If so, what was the outcome? Did you recieve a large settlement? Are you allowed to talk about it? I won't tell anyone, I promise.

Luckily, I never have, and hopefully never will. However my uncle died a few years ago because of a drunk driver. I'm sorry I don't know the details of the settlement or anything.

Sure have. And since I buy American I came out of it without a scratch. Back when I was driving a cage I owned an older '71 Caddy Coupe de Ville. (It was about 10 years old, still in pretty decent shape.) I t-boned some wino who didn't know a red light from a green.

Lucky for him I hit him on the right side and not the left. It was a little Honda. They had to cut his car away from mine. Mine still ran, but it never ran very well again. Couldn't afford to have it fixed out of my pocket, and the drunk I smacked had no insurance, no license, and the car wasn't even his.

No-fault was not in effect at the time and my insurance company just laughed at me. (It was not my insurance company much longer.) I got exactly squat, and had to pay out of my pocket to replace all the front lights and turn signal bezels, repair and refill the radiator, re-align the front end, etc. Bumper, grill, front of the hood, I left the minor damage.

The outcome was Junior went to jail for 90 days and was ordered by the court to pay my repair costs. Never saw a dime. For all I know he was out and about driving again as soon as he was free. Back in the early 80's they were not as hard on drunk drivers as they are today.

Good thing too since now I pretty well much only ride a bike. A big 'ol American bike that's kinda hard not to see, but I'm glad there are fewer wino's on the road since the penalties are so much higher. And I ride in Florida, so the chances of me getting some dough this time around are much better, since I stand a chance during the tourist season of getting potted by some rich dude.

The heck with GPS. The person that comes out with some type of drunk avoidance radar is gonna get rich!

I haven't, but my uncle was hit by a drunk driver and he died. It was when I was very young.

Yes, we were rear-ended by a drunk driver last year. There was no damage to the big SUV my mom drives, and she let them go.
