Your first 5 choices are all the same. If the Information Technology industry tanks, they all see the same fate.

School teachers suffer because when there is a recession, unemployed people pay much less tax, and other unemployed people tend to vote "no" on school levies, so a school teacher is indirectly affected.

An accountant might be the best choice - an accountant's job security may even increase during a recession, as people want more help being careful with their money when times are tight.

most of the above people refer only to layoffs. The computer ones may have far higher salaries, allowing savings and investments not otherwise available that will allow you to not worry so much about layoffs.

they are also the sort of jobs that are likely to require continuous education, meaning even as job descriptions and requirements change, you are still needed in the economy and hence can stay employed.

Finally, in our modern economy, those tech careers can be done from anywhere, and in fact may not need a large company around them at all.

The others are fine careers too.

If you are young and trying to think about your life, I'm just sayin' ...

Simple answer...Nurse. Lay off's, inflation, recession and depression all can lead to health and medical issues. People will always need health care, It is a part of life and living. Dan

Nurses and teachers are always in demand. Someone is always sick, and kids always need to be educated. I think nurses are probably the most needed since the Baby Boomer generation is retirement age. Healthcare is HOT!

None of the above, I would have to say carpentry.

My husband works for my uncle who is restoring this old mental hospital in Traverse City, Michigan, and it is the best work and it is stable, heck they have soooo much to do yet!!!!
