I am a very complex person politically. I am pro-immigration,
socially liberal, but fiscally conservative. I don't like entitlement programs. I also don't like our government giving out money to indigent immigrants. A person has every right to come here but not to be supported by the taxpayers. Why am a social liberal? First off, the so-called conservatives are wasteful. Everytime they are in, they inflate the deficit by increasing, depleting, and then reincreasing the military,
(i.e. both Gulf war campaigns). They also add disfunctional
government depts. like so-called "homeland security" and projects like star wars. The conservatives are not conservative. The democratic party shows more concern about global warming and environmental integrity as well as protecting civil liberties, gays, women's rights etc. In a perfect world the democrats would trim the entitlement programs left around from the new deal and only support the elderly and truly disabled. This however is not a perfect world and I am always having to choose between the lesser of two evils.

I'm pro choice because I feel that if we make abortion illegal it leads to back alley abortions. This makes me "liberal". I however side with Republicans on most every other issue.

I do however think President Bush did not follow the Powell Doctrine with his invasion of Iraq and therefor cricize him. This means to the pro-Bush retard I'm "liberal" but they who are smart read what I'm saying in full and understand I'm really a neoconservative who supported going into Iraq, just with more troops and allies.

So, I voted for Kerry in 04 but won't vote for Hillary in 08.

Have to have a criteria and weigh whats most important.

In 04 I weighed the Iraq disaster heavily.

Now in 08 I weigh the economic issues more so.

I judge issues on their own merit, using the principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Neither party lines up perfectly with those two inspired documents...but ya gotta vote for *somebody.*

I would consider myself to be somewhat of a liberal republican. Let see I can support someone who I have nothing in common with, does not share my values, believes in large tax increases, doesn't believe in personal responsibility, wants to give citizenship and welfare to people who are here illegally

OR

I can support someone who partially shares what I believe in.

I will support someone who partially share my values

i think i'm a bit of a yellow-dog democrat

what makes me support the party? because one's personal choice hardly ever applies to others' personal choices and the best we can do therefore is to strive toward equanimity for every American and the preservation of everyone's civil liberties and constitutional rights - not just those of a few as the GOP is so prone to do

I suppose I consider myself a conservative Democrat.
I don't think anyone will ever fully agree with their party.

I am a liberal Republican.

I believe in fiscal responsibility, small government and maintaining a strong military. I am also very against illegal drug use.

Social issues bother me, but I do believe in freedom of choice in most situations. It is not my job to bring condemnation upon others.
