I am curious about something. I know that in France, wearing the Hijab in school was banned. For those of you who never wore the Hijab before, how did you feel about this? Did it make you want to START wearing one??

Hi
I know what you are saying, as basically an act of defiance, well because Egypt is a majority Muslim country, this issue has happened but for not anything to do with the french ban- there has been a separate issue about the wearing of the Niqab in universities in Egypt not the Veil, the issue in France was the veil and in schools not in universities.

Those women that wear the hijab or start to wear the hijab in Egypt do for their own reason some religious, some political, some societal and all mixed together, it depends on the woman.

however here in UK some Muslims that are already living quite insular lives, well the banning of the hijab in France, gave them another reason to stay insular and feel like its OK not to integrate with the rest of the society. Hence the french were stupid to use a piece of cloth and the freedom of choice- by the female herself, to wear it or not as a societal issue but as a political one. I'm sure that the french will realise that the ban has done nothing for promoting community cohesion, which doesn't come by force rather than understanding.

I don't wear it and i would never make a choice based on societal or political events.
