I'm a bit concerned that names and phones numbers stored on the phone could be accessed by someone else. I've therefore phoned and had the SIM card cancelled. Are the numbers actually stored on the SIM card or elsewhere in the phone? Many thanks in advance.

It depends on how you put your phone numbers in. If you did put in onto the SIM card, then you can still access the phone numbers, because when you cancel, you're canceling the phone, not the SIM card. Also, you can't make calls using that SIM card, but anything that was on it will still be there.

If you put all of your contacts on the phone itself, then nothing will be saved onto the SIM card and you will only be able to access any information on the phone itself.

Hopefully this answers your question.

When you add a new contact if all you can enter is a name and one number the details are being stored on your sim. If you can enter more information then the details are being stored on your phone. Either way, people can access them whether or not you cancel anything.

You can usually save up to 100 numbers on your SIM, which is useful if you're expecting to change ur phone a lot. Most phones also give you the option of saving the numbers to your phone rather than the SIM.
