Going to install a new toilet, and have to cut off an old cast iron soil pipe to get a "y" installed into the waste line.

try a cast iron soil pipe cutter its call a chain cutter nice smooth cut and then use no hub couplings to connect your fittings together makes petty job.The cutters are to expensive for one use but you can rent one for a day

Saw through it using a saw for metal, then using a metal file, run it over the edges you have sawed to make them smooth.
