Are you really surprised? She thinks very highly of her mother and grandmother I see.

I didn't think anything of it until I read the "answer". The first part if very true. Every group and every person has made mistakes at some point. It's just part of being human.
But the person who answers seems to have a few thing's twisted in his/her answer. Single guys are suffering because their wife doesn't do any house work? If they are single, then they don't have a wife. Let's say he was married to a career woman. Isn't half of rent and all other bills being paid worth spending the $50 to get a maid by once a week? If you saved $600 on rent and lets just say $400 on other bills then that $100 a month (she would probably take half so $100 instead of $200) should be nothing.
Then again it's probably that type of thinking that makes this single man single.

Okay, I'll start by saying Patois is a brilliant woman whom I respect a great deal. I do not think she takes anything lightly and has posted some incredible information on here. If she is being blithe on this one, perhaps she was kidding, or perhaps she meant something else, I don't know--didn't see the original posting. She is one poster I would defend without exception.
As for the original question, my response would be that there is collateral damage from some aspects of the feminist movement(s) and I would list them, as I see them as:
1) male alienation and, therefore, defensiveness;
2) a sense of inferiority/superiority between genders;
3) a gap in understanding between men and women;
4) mistreatment of males at all educational levels;
5) a perception of favouritism (VAWA/pay equity/affirmative action;
6) skewed perceptions about abilities;
7) skewed laws based on those perceptions (particularly around child care)...and the last few things I have to say relate to wider societal issues.
I am someone who listens and absorbs what people say, and when it comes to the following, I've heard enough to be very concerned about the impact of feminism. There is a lot of data regarding the impact of divorce on society overall, and children in particular. I won't rehash what people think, but I honestly believe that feminism has had an impact on how families are structured, and because less than half of families are "intact" I believe a series of social problems have resulted. This includes everything from children living in homes without their fathers, to fathers living in hotel rooms because they are financially bereft as a result of trying to gain access to children. I don't see any of this as positive, and I do think feminism is part of the problem.
There are those who will say that a social movement has nothing to do with any of what I've said, and fair enough--but that's not how I see it. I expect to hear people ask, well should people stay in loveless marriages, and no, that's not what I'm saying. I am saying that overall, the movement for the rights of women, while well intended initially, has caused a significant shift in the way we structure society in North America. The pendulum has swung too far when it comes to expectations of both men and women. Feminists are also quibbling over things that really are irrelevant, but I've already written so much.
I'm not saying any of this lightly, or to insult anyone, or to be provoking--this is how I see it after hearing from many people directly affected. Further, it's not only men "disgusted" by feminist ideology--there are also a lot of women who do not want that label because the movement has been hijacked by very radical people. People who are more moderate are intimidated by some of the male-bashing (and it happens frequently) and are hesitant or unlikely to join the movement. This is self-defeating and I'm sure not the original intention of our amazing foremothers. This is lengthy, and I know I could say much more, but I'll leave it at that. As far as Patois goes, do not judge her based on your perception of this response. She's definitely worth listening to, in my opinion.

Dino, I think Patois was just being funny. Don't read too much into her answer.
You've answered questions with a bit of ironic sarcasm before, too.

That isn't fair. Most single men are willing to learn to take care of domestic stuff on their own. Only a few men are that passionate about cooking and cleaning being "women's work."

Her answer and the other answers on here prove the biggest mistake... and they probably don't even realize it.
These women don't care about men, or men's rights today. They don't care if Men's children are taken away from them(legally kidnapped). They don't care that men in the past became disabled at young ages because of the physical labor they did for many hours of the day. They don't care that men destroyed their bodies for their Matriarchs.
They're individualists... they only care about themselves. duh. The mentality that men are bad/evil/always wrong is, by far, the biggest mistake of Feminism.
Edit: I agree with Rainbow. I'm not sure that is was really meant to be malicious(possible, but not probable)

The thing is, a lot of single men would do those chores themselves instead of hiring someone else to do it. That's because they can do them well and would rather do things their own way than someone else's.

The feminist movement is not an exception to this theory.
In order to make progress, or evolve, we have to make sacrifices of some sort. When one door closes..another one opens. I believe this concept is founded in physics, if you buy into the validity of science.

Oh, poor single guys, unable to cook or clean for themselves! I'm so, so sad for them!
Oh. Wait. Maybe not.
Seriously, what's wrong with guys picking up after themselves?
