Mosquitofish are tropical freshwater fishes. It goes well with an underwater jungle. I also think that you will might be having 35-40 gal. tank. They might breed fast. Yeah the 2 fishes look the same. Mosquitofish should also have a balanced diet, flakes everyday, mosquito larvae weekly.

How big is your tank? Although they are one of the smallest livebearers, they still need some room to move. It is one of the hardest of all livebearers and is tolerant to most any water conditions. That doesn't mean you should skimp on the water changes.Occasionally they can become aggresive should the should be be kept with hardier fish in a community tank. They also like some floating plants on the surface of the water.

Females look similar but the Endler males are more colorful than the male Mosquitofish

I've kept mosquitofish in an aquarium before (10 gallon), and they did well for me. They did better when I had them in an outdoor pond though, with lots of aquatic plants. They even spawned several times in the pond.

Mosquitofish and Endler's are both livebearers (and distant relatives of guppies), so that's one reason they look similar - at least the females do, The males are about the same size and have the gonopodium (modified anal fin that's typical of livebearers), but the color of a male mosquitofish is similar to that of the females where male Endler's are a lot more colorful.

Maximum Size: Up to 2.5 inches.
General Size Info: 1-1.5 Inches.

Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons.

Diet: The Mosquitofish feeds upon the larvae of mosquitoes and other insects, but you should also supplement their diet with any flake type food, and frozen food as well.

Plant Compatible: Yes.

Behavior: A semi-aggressive species.

Hardiness: Hardy.
Water Conditions: As always, ideal water conditions are a must: Temp: 65-75F, 0 Ammonia/ 0 Nitrites, Nitrates > .20 PPM, Ph 6.5-7.5, GH 4-20 dKH
Range: North America

General Notes: An ideal biological control of mosquito larvae in the pond, the Mosquito fish is used for vector control in many areas, as it is a highly aggressive feeder on insect larvae in various freshwaters. The Mosquito fish is native to North America as far north as Illinois, and can tolerate winter conditions as long as the pond is deep enough and is aerated through the winter.
