NB Pure water boils at 100 degrees C and freezes at 0 degrees C.
When a solute (Sodium Chloride) is added to water (Solvent) forming a solution, then the boiling point is raised and the freezing point is depressed.
There is a section of chemistry studying EBULLIOSCOPIC & CRYOSCOPIC constants - the chemistry of altering the boiling/freezing points of pure solvents when solutes are added.
