I am on Standard because no one here takes Prime and with Prime I had to go to the army's OB and I need a perinatologist. I've never had a problem with Standard. I think I owe my OB $4 at this point. Anyone have a ballpark figure on how much doulas usually charge private pay?

Unfortunataly no it does not fully if any. However, Tricare can be a tricky thing so check with the office at your base to be sure.

Furthermore,, if you get it OKED please please please get it in writing or documentation of some sort. Ive been an AF wife long enough to know how NOT to get screwed.

No. Tricare Standard is minimal coverage. With that, expect to pay pretty good amounts of copay. [We paid $60 for one immunization.] Look on Tricare's website in your area [North, South, West] to find out which providers you can actually go to that accept Tricare. If you live near a base you cannot go off base and will still be treated at the military facility closest to you.

If I were you I'd go with Tricare Prime in a heartbeat. The cover 100% of cost and have far more providers out there. You may be able to find a doula there. You could also call them and ask them yourself. They are normally pretty friendly. Best of Luck!

no, standard won't cover doulas and even tricare prime (which is way better btw) will only cover if it is on a pre-approved list (are there aren't a whole lot of options here). however, If you are looking for a doula because your husband is deployed and you need someone to support you in the delivery room, the army will provide a doula to you at no cost (assuming there's one in the area you lived who is involved in the program)

Check with your provider. Plans differ so you need to check on your particular group coverage. Doulas are great and I certainly hope they are covered for you. Even if they arent, this optionas private pay is not that expensive and would be a wonderful present from the grandparents to you.
