We were discussing the topic of child abuse during WWII in World History class today, and a kid asked this question, but it was left un-answered. Help me, history nuts!! Did they?

You know there's no way to really answer this question unless you spoke to survivor. But seeing as their cruelty knew no bounds and made no real distinction between children and adults, my guess would be that that (and any other type of attrocity imaginable) went on. They did medical experiments on both living and dead adults and children and I would find it hard to believe that there weren't any Nazi guards etc. who's sickness extended to pediphelia. So there is no real difinitive answer to that, but I would be shocked if it didn't go on at at least some level.

I haven't heard or learned about the child abuse but the way the children were gassed in the gas chambers with men and women has description from the surviving witnesses. In some concentration camps the children were thrown in a room, given no food but were starved to death and the whole lot of thousands of bodies were just fused together to become lump mass of flesh and bones and left to smell foul for long time, have been described in the dairies of the authorities who controlled those camps!

Though the untold sufferings of the victims is really painful to read, it is essential to keep the upcoming generations informed on the horrors of war, to always work for the war free world!

Children were sexually abused in the Nazi concentration camps, and in Stalin's Gulags, at all sorts of levels.

Homosexual rape against young boys by the guards was frequent; and girls were sent off to brothels for guards and S.S. Officers.

Also hideous medical experimentation performed on young children was the norm.

I remember reading a survivors account of the concentration camp . A friend of hers also a child was sexually attacked and died as a result. Their cruelty saw no boundaries.

the prisoners held in concentration camps had no rights (in fact they were not considered fully human) so if such abuse had occurred no record would have been made of it.

even if such a record had existed it would have been destroyed in late 1944 (huge numbers of deathcamp records were destroyed when the nazis realised that they were losing the war).

so we may be sure it happened (there was nothing to stop it from happening) but it will be very difficult to find definite records.

No. They also didn't abuse the female prisoners. Not because they didn't want to, but it was not allowed.
Actually there were rules about what guards could and could not do. And having sex with sub humans was a no-go. Guards could get shot if they got caught.
On the other hand those guards might find some place were they could do the forbidden things. But that would have been very risky.

considering the level of depravity of some of the guards at these camps I'm sure it happened from time to time. I don't think it was sanctioned or part of the policy, but it was likely ignored when it happened. This would have been an individual choice on the part of the freak involved.

An article for the subject for you. It is focused on the Nazi's sexual abuse of women yet you can be certain young girls were abused as well.

I've read about WW2 a lot, and I've never heard of anything like that. But that doesn't mean it didn't happen.
However, keep in mind that they perceived the imprisoned people mostly as subhuman, so I believe that their superiors wouldn't be very happy if they found out about something like that.

The abuse of children is not isolated to any group, nationality, race or religion.
It has always existed and it probably always will.
