My Uncle went every year. We bathed and brushed the Beagles, Redbone, and the other hounds and went in his old blue pick up truck.

Never went to the convention but my in-laws had two old blue tick hounds, every time they dug in my mother-in-laws garden she would yell at them and chase them with the hoe. The next morning she always found them on the porch with a live rabbit, they wouldn't hurt the rabbit at all, but it was a peace offering and my mother-in-law would pet them tell them they were good dogs then take them in for a treat while the rabbit scooted off into the woods. Thanks for making me think of that, what great fun some memories are.

My grandparents had a redbone, he grabbed a copperhead and got bit in the throat. My great grandpa went out in the woods and picked herbs and made a brew and fed the dog thru a garden hose and he lived---his throat was almost on the ground. I was 10 then and remember it like it was yesterday. Never been to a convention, chased 'em thru the woods on a coon or opossum hunt. Thanks for the memories.

I lived in (northeastern) Ohio all of my life until I moved south last year, & I never heard of a Coondog Convention. Where in Ohio?

I would love to have gone if I lived in Ohio. I have friends who raise blue tick hounds for hunting.

Nope, but I've been to a wolf hunt when I was a kid and I'll always remember the spring we drank out of. It was a container that looked like a fridge buried in the ground and it had spring water in it. We camped for days and nights. It was so much fun!! The food was delicious!!

Yep, we used to have an old redbone hound and she was happiest when she was running the little bandits!
