Since fighting questions appear to be popular today....

Fighting is way up this season so far and it would appear that the enforcers role is far from dead, I started thinking about some of the better AHL fighters I had seen in the last few years and wondering about the chance of them getting a shot back up in the NHL.
The one name that I couldn't stop thinking about was Brandon Sugden. He was a great heavyweight fighter for the Syracuse Crunch, I saw him destroy Bonvie in person in Hershey and I know that he has won fights against McGratton, Koci, Boogaard, and Ivanans.
It just seems strange to me that a guy that I considered a better fighter than all of those guys I listed above never got a shot and they all did.
It couldn't be because he is any worse of a player than Boogaard, that would be impossible, so does anybody know anything about Sugden and where he is at?

The Crunch website has him listed but not active with the team. He played 11 games with them last season. He also played 17 games with the St Jean Cheifs in the LNAH in 06-07.

He does have his own web site though.

Released from Syracuse last season and finished with the St. Jean Chiefs in the Ligue Nord Americaine de Hockey. Doesn't look like he is playing anyplace of significance at this point.

Sadly, Brandon's lack of non-fighting skills have led to few contract offers in recent years. I know he finished up last year in Quebec's senior league (not bad for a guy who has yet to hit 30) and since I only glance at that league once in a blue moon, I'm not sure if that is where you could find him at the moment.

i live in syracuse. they interview him on the radio once in awhile. last season he 'walked off' the team when he didnt play at all. he is playing in some league in canada where there is a bit more fighting (sounded like it was 1 step up from a beer league). he said he was enjoying hockey alot more. i cant find the name of the team or league, but last i knew he was still out there playing.

look up the gomez and dave radio show in syracuse, ny. those guys would know.
Edit: try emailing them at goodguys@tk99.net they might know.

I have been trying to locate where he is playing, the last thing I found was at the following web-site:
http://syracusecrunch.dyndns.org/sugden/articles/Slugger%20Takes%20on%20Silver%20Screen.htm

It mentions Montreal in the American league - that isn't right is it?

His website states that he is on the Blue Jackets radar, but it looks like old info.

EDIT: Tried to do more research to find him, with no success. I have a great guess though: jail
