The whole of Yahoo Answers has stuff about liberals and Bush and Hillary C and the people on here sound like they hate each other. Is America going to split in two?

Jason L,

Brits are very very mixed, the whole world is here, we have all sorts of people here. I suppose we don't like the guns coming in, no one wants guns here, some immigrants get blamed. Many don't like the government, there's a million different views, it's not split clearly in two.

Politics. It could actually get worse, or better, depending on your view. If the Republican's keep it up, there might be a 3rd party made up of religious right conservatives. The grand ol party is struggling to keep seats, at the expense of the Christian right agenda. That might not be acceptable to folks that were so recently powerful...

Judging the mood of America (or any nation) based on what you see on this message board is very much like judging the truth by reading only the National Enquirer or another sleazy tabloid. (Not to imply that Yahoo is a tabloid.) This site gives voice to many, and many of those who do give voice here are either misinformed or downright trolls. Either way, when political views are expressed, I believe very little of it represents how the actual people in America feel. Certainly not how I feel.

We're not split in two, it's just better for us to talk politics in this type of forum. Unfortunately there are some people on Yahoo who are extreme on both sides. That's where the bickering comes in. It's fun to read at times though.

There is a massive disconnect here with the truth. There seems to be little time to do our own research about world changing events lead by America. I does not take much research to realize many people will not look back in to the blind spot, rather its so busy we need to focus ahead. Unfortunately leaders use this against the people to divide us so they can carry out their crimes.

This is just a big giant bulletin board used to air frustrations and views and taken entirely too seriously by too many. I am totally hooked.

This Yahoo! Answers does not represent the United States. Most people I know have never even heard of it.

America is split in two.

A simplistic view would be that there is the Left (mostly collectivists, i.e., it's all about the group) and the Right (mostly individualists).

The Left want a strong central government that safeguards their lives and provides them with benefits at the sacrifice of freedoms they no longer value (i.e., 2nd Amendment).

The Right want a weaker central government that steps aside for individual liberty.

Very generalized, I know, but mostly true. I think that's mostly what's going on in this country; sort of opposing ethics, with each side genuinely convinced they are right.

The word your looking for sparky is "change".
We here, are about to experience another dynastic change. And with so many unpopular things happening, there is allot more tension this time around.

Politics has turned into sports teams here. I don't think people even pay attention to the issues much.

Unfortunately, the most extreme 5% on the left and on the right scream the loudest.
Most americans get along fine, and our politics tend to be much calmer than yours.

i dont think we are split. its just that many ppl have different ideas on the war. plus we have a election comming up. that always make people feel the need to voice their opinion.
