We have a 2000 nissan sentra, automatic transmission. We are getting a tow dolly as that was the option recommended to us since we have a front-wheel drive vehicle. My husband will be driving. It's a 16 foot truck. Suggestions? Tips? We were going to get a ten foot truck and I was going to follow him to PA, but the car hasn't been inspected in PA yet, doesn't have a sticker, but has a valid PA registration and plates. With some car trouble, close to 100K miles, we decided to tow the car on a dolly. (The car also needs repairs, and we didn't want to chance a car problem as well.)
Any advice and safety tips would be truly appreciated! This is a new thing for both of us, and we are nervous! We can't afford a mishap!

well I work in a truck rental business, and all I can really suggest is watch your speed. The fastest those trucks are safe for while towing a car is 45MPH. That is where alot of people mess up. The other thing is make sure before you take off you inspect your rental equipment, make sure there are no faults in what you are driving or towing. Drive safe, have a safe trip.

That's a relatively short trip. I suggest you leave very early, say 5:00am. You should be in PA by late afternoon with one or two fuel stops. Choose you gas station stops wisely. You need a big gas station to drive that truck in and out. Unless you're experienced at towing, plan on not backing up. Good luck

Take your time.Practice drive around your town to get the feel of it.
Remember to give turns a bit more wide swing for the car being towed to clear.Always check the height limits at fuel stations BEFORE you try to pull to the pump.Know the truck's height before you Leave.
HAPPY MOTORING!
