I've tried to tell him, if he doesn't beleive in Santa, he will not visit on Christmas Eve. But he said that's ok.. I'll still get pressies of you and mum..
How cynical is that?...lol

I was kinda slick I stopped believing around 5 yrs old but kept allowing my parents to believe that I BELEIVED in Santa and the tooth fairy so I could get money and extra gifts from Santa until then one yr my mom says " Hey you don't believe in Santa anymore do ya?" I replied " Nah"

I think I was... 7 or 8 ish. The reason I believed in those for so long is because I remember one year, my grandfather actually dressed up as Santa Clause and he made a bunch of noises like he was coming down the chimney and walked across to our tree and everything. He knew I was only pretending to sleep and I was peeking through my eyelashes, so i kept believing in him for a while.

I remember being skeptical when I was around 9 because kids in my class were telling me they weren't real. But, I wanted to believe they were real so bad that I just didn't want to listen, and I asked my mom and she told me as long as you still believe they will still come. I figured out for sure around age 10 though, and I think it's the same for my kids, my older 3 know they are fictional, although I think my 10 year old daughter was just convinced by her peers last year as well(there are always those kids who have to ruin it for the others)! My 6 yr. old son and 2 1/2 year old daughter are still in firm belief of Santa, the tooth fairy, and the Easter bunny, and I've threatened my older kids they better not ruin it for them. I think the kids that young at school are the one's whose parents don't participate in the fun and make belief which to me were an important part of my growing up and fond memories!(like my step dad who went outside and jingled bells at our bedroom window so we'd hurry and go to sleep before santa would just pass us by b/c we were still awake)! So, if you're already to just tell him they aren't 'real' then that's your decision, but you could just explain to him some kids just don't believe or don't deserve, so Santa, tooth fairy, whomever, will not visit them so that's why they don't believe. ;-)

I can't really remember....but I was a lot older than 5. I think most of my friends had it worked out by about 9 or 10....at least the Father Christmas thing.

i am not sure but I think I was around the same age...maybe a 6-7 for santa claus but it took me a little longer to realize that the tooth fairy isn't real.
