do you think he would? I know it is hypothetical, but in case a large war were to break out_even if not planned and not wanted by Iran, Russia, nor the USA even_simply because things happen in the least expected of ways; would the President be asked by Congress to stay?

In case of the US being attacked, not by simple terrorists, but by another nation, Is the President obligated to stay in power? And whether he wants to stay or is obligated by circumstances, do you think the best that can happen is for him to stay?

If you want a serious answer you should ask a serious question. Asked by whom? There is no provision for him to stay beyond 2 full terms.........

He can't be asked to stay on. It's a violation of the Constitution. Presidents don't fight wars, especially a defensive one. The military plans the battles and executes the plans; the President merely gives the overall go-ahead.
You seem to think that Bush as President during a time of war is a good thing. bin Laden is alive and well. Taliban is stronger than ever. Instead of Iraq insurgent numbers shrinking, they're growing. theoretically, if we're there for another decade, the insurgents might have an army.
Democratic Presidents win wars. Republican Presidents (Nixon,Bush) lose them.

Note: Roosevelt was democratically elected to 4 terms in office. The 2 term limitation hadn't yet been adopted. Republicans pushed for term limits because of Roosevelt.

There is no provision allowing the president to serve longer than two terms under any circumstances. The elections must be held and there is no way around that.

Since it would be God telling to him to stay, it means he is truly delusional, since there is no provision in the constitution for that. But, that won't matter to him as I don't even think he knows what it is, he has had such little regard for it. Just a piece of paper, indeed!

Even if WW3 was going on, Bush would have to leave...he has completely mismanaged this war. Why would we want him leading another one?

Yes, I believe he would. Roosevelt did, due to WWII. In such a case now, it would be unwise for America to switch presidents, being that a new president won't be appraised well enough of our situation.

You bet he would stay. It would validate his contempt for the Constitution which says he can't do that.
