They need to know that what they are seeing on TV and in the media are only fantasies and do not really reflect real life. TV shows are often spiced up because they need to attract a viewing audience and most people will not watch them if these shows try to be more realistic. Most people watch TV to escape their boring and stressful lives.

I'd be more concerned about the "your dad is an idiot & all men are bafoons" message in advertising these days.
Like anywhere else in his life... if he is shown respect, he will show it back.
Let me ask you:
Do you think women respect men nowadays?
If the answer to that question is "no" then boys will no doubt reflect the attitudes thrown at them.
To answer the question:
I'd let the boy know that domestic violence isn't only "AGAINST WOMEN" & to not beat ANYONE regardless of gender.
...& that just because it's perfectly fine for the media to show men beaten & kicked in the groin for "humor" that it's not healthy & leads to desensitizing female on male violence.
I'd teach him to treat women AND men with respect.

male child will grow more matured . He would not be tickled by skin exposure. The one getting tickled are the ones who had no chance to view even female ankle
standards of exposure have undergone change , old standards need not apply to new one
In societies where women are in Burqua ( veil) , exposure of hands tickles men, in western countries on beaches where women are seen in birthday suits no body bothers

One suggestion my be to stick with TV on demand rather than cable in the household. I have a friend who will only allow her daughters to watch certain cartoons or educational shows. You can't shield them from everything, but you can minimize it. Also, treat the women in your life the way you want him to treat women and that will make the largest impact.

haha Brad D is taking over this place recently.
Yep. What steps can we take to ensure that female children grow up in the same way except with respect for men?

As parents -both men and women- we should show our kids by way of example. Particularly if we are separated or divorced.

You are obviously the right man for the job. Just set a good example by being a good role model.

Moderate unbringing will help; for his open mind; not as fundamentalist.
ensure all his siblings are treated same;
his parents shouldtreat each other with respect;not fighting in front of him.correct mutually when he is wrong. do not give conflicting answer for his queries.
Teach him to respect himself, and love others as much as himself.
