Shrunken Fro is my mom...she answered the question for me because I lived with her as a child. I remember roaches being everywhere in that apt. It's interesting because I wasn't as scared of them when I had them, then I am now.

I don't have roaches NOW, but when I was a kid, after my parents split up, we were pretty poor and had to move in this kind of shaby apt bldg. The first week was fine, but than later the roaches started coming out like crazy! This place was a breeding ground for roaches. They were in the cabinets on the counter tops, under the fridge. My mom would put out those "roach motels" and we did the defoggers. Nothing ever worked. They would leave for a few days and come right back. Which lead us to believe that's really all the mgr did right before we moved in, which would explain we didn't see any that first week. I remember being so scared to flick on the kitchen light at night, because they would scramble all over the place, trying to hide. I'd see pregnant roaches, I mean these things multiplied overnight! Scary! Glad those days are over.

The condo I live in now is new (like 5 yrs old) and clean. I haven't seen one roach and I've been living here for over 2 yrs. I always get worried though that new neighbors will move in next to me and bring some with them. eeeeeewww. But now I know how to get rid of them if that ever happened: 2 words : boric acid (YES it really works!)

When I first moved to Chicago we found this apartment that to me seemed alright. Needless to say there were roaches all over the place especially in the kitchen which in itself was very disturbing.

We moved out of that place and the next place didn't have any and neither did the place after that. In fact, I had not seen any in my places where I lived until I bought a condo. Of course there are rentals in there and it seemed that everything was smooth until they let some lowlifes in that it turns out are illegal rental people. Soon after that I start seeing roaches in my bathroom. It would be when I got up in the middle of the night and they would be scattering here and there for cover.

I had them spray but I know that they didn't spray everyones place so it will be a matter of time before I see them again. So much for thinking you have it better when you buy a place.

Gosh yes! Living in apartment leaves you more susceptible.

They are disgusting!

Also living in California in the high desert they get these big water beetles they look like ginormous roaches. They come up from the drain in the tub. Imagine stepping into your morning shower and seeing that running by your foot.

Oh my goodness, I had roaches in my very 1st apartment. I lived upstairs & my neighbor downstairs had them something fierce.

I discovered them one night when I got up to get a drink of water from the kitchen. They went running across the counter - I almost died.

Yes. And Viking guys took care of them in my house. I tried many things and for a long time, but when they started gettingo into my eatables, I had to call on the professionals. It cost me $200 and patience of upto 4 weeks, but they are now gone. I dont know if they will be back, but they are gone for now.

Man listen, of course. If you ever lived in the hood and said no you're lying. Even if your place is clean, one of your neighbors had em and they made their way to your house.
