Key play of the 1982 NCAA Championship game - with North Carolina ahead by 1 point over Georgetown and with Georgetown haveing the ball on offense at the end of the game, in the last seconds of the game, James Worthy stole the ball from Georgetown to preserve North Carolina's 1 point victory.
NOTE: James Worthy spent 3 years at North Carolina before turning pro and was an All American at North Carolina in his last year, his junior year, at UNC, but in Worthy's second to the last year at UNC, when Worthy was a sophomore and hobbled by an ankle injury all that year which limited his play in 1980-1981. James Worthy as a freshman at North Carolina on January 20, 1980 suffered a severe broken ankle with multiple breaks in the ankle which hampered Worthy's previous tremendous jumping ability displayed at North Carolina during his injury shortened freshman year in the 1979-1980 season at North Carolina. James Worthy only had one healthy season out of three years attending North Carolina and made All American his final year, his junior year, where he led North Carolina to the NCAA championship.
