I have post partum depression, and I had my daughter 3 months ago and I am also anemic. I have been very dizzy and headaches and had some fevers. I have been really weak also. I just started work on Oct 1st and I have missed 5 days already beacuse of my illness. My insurance got canceled for a month, so I couldn't get any meds or see my doctors... so I tried to call them now because it is back and set up and now my doctors won't take me today because it is not an emergancy- so I am confused I know that I can't go to the hospital but I have to contact my insurance and let them know who my new doctor is before I can change! What can I do?? I am out of meds and I am about to lose my job because of my anemic... I can't be passing out really in training class... So i need some advice thanks

No emergency room can turn you away if you cannot pay so i would go to the er and see what is wrong. That is a start until you can see your doctor.

I had sort of the same problem, especially with the dizziness and feeling weak. I am diabetic and have been for 3 years now. I went in and they tested me for every thing under the sun and found nothing . My son was three months when I was experiencing this stuff to. I still feel the same but we have not found any thing. They think my diabetes might be changing from type 2 to type 1 and they may be why I am feeling so different. I also have lost Alot of weight since having my son so may be this could be to blame.
I f I were you I would for sure go get a complete check over. I know were I live right now there is a 3 week bug going around but if has already been this long you really need to go to the doc. You could even ask your daughters doctor who they might recommend you see and if they have ever heard of some thing like this happening after giving birth. Also with the anemia you really need to be eating healthy and watching your iron intake as you also do not ant to be getting to much iron. Good luck to you and I hope you start feeling better soon!

Why are you still anemic? Get some iron in you, unless you are sick with something major taking an iron suppliment, or just eating iron rich foods for a few days will help raise your blood iron where it belongs.

You dont get fever from anemia, so apparently there is something else going on. Have you not had your post partum check up because of not having insurance?

If you're fever is not over 103.5- and youre not dizzy when sitting, its probably not an emergency. However, it is something that needs attention.

If youre just not feeling right, go to the ER, you can always have your inurance retroactively take effect, or if it cant- its always better to be healthy than dead.

You're taking iron which is great for the anemia, but you need something for the depression. If you absolutely can't get proper medication for it, try St. Johns Wort. It's a natural herbal anti-depressant. Are you eating enough food? After a baby, you can't be worried about dieting, because you need nutrition. You've only had your baby for 3 months, so you're body is still trying to get back to normal. Try to eat 3 meals, with 3 small snacks. I eat almonds and cashews in between meals for extra energy. They're also good for anemia. I have it also. If not...go to the Emergency. They can't turn you away. Post partum depression and anemia are nothing to joke about. I had PPD and I let it go for a long time, and it messed me up really bad.

A good thing that would help with the anemia is to eat 5 to 6 small meals a day instead of 3 large ones. Make sure they are packed with iron, of course. Lots of Dark leafy greens and nuts have good source of iron. If you aren't already I would continue to take my prenatal vitamins they are a good source of iron to.

Go to the ER. Call your insurance company and let them know you are going if it worries you but I would definitely go. I HATE INSURANCE COMPANIES because of things like this. Change doctors also and let your doctor know why you are leaving. Tell him so he can make an effort to change his behavior.

If you're passing out, that is an emergency and you should be calling 911, or going to urgent care. One way or another get what you need, don't wait on your unsypathetic doctor!

Good luck, try and keep your head up.
