I would say Acrylic for sure! It has the most thickness to it, and therefore will stand up to all the harsh weather pumpkins go through. Also it's easy to do multiple coats for a deeper color and a lasting paint job.

Oil would be OK, but definitely NOT water!

Definitely acrylic without using any medium to keep it moist and fluid.. Oil would be awful as it wouldn't be dry in time for Halloween. Drying time for oils can be weeks and in some cases months.

acrylic, water will smudge and run if it gets wet or humid, oil will be a mess, and acrylic will be waterproof and safe... just remember to aviod getting it on your clothes, if u are using more than one color try buying a few basic colors and then mixing them to what you need, you will save alot of money this way..... have fun, best of luck
