Well, because you are a selfless natured sweet girl! There is nothing wrong with that. Yes, sometimes I feel bad and other times I feel like the beggers are BSing. One time, I went to my local mall and saw a girl begging for money, but I also, like you, had no cash on me. 5 minutes later, I saw her with a hand full of shopping bags.

Not at all everyone or at least someone has had to resort to doing this in their own lives.
What is bad about that many people make a career doing this for a living I know this for a fact because when I lived in Queens N.Y. There was a guy who would wear the dirtiest clothes that he can find smear grease over his face like the military use and sit on a old blanket take off his left sneakers and beg everyday Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
I decided to follow him home one day he entered a house in one of the wealthiest parts of Queens called "Jamaica Estates" he had a yacht sitting on a trailer with 4 cars the cars were worth $100,000 each they all were Mercedes Benz and a truck parked outside.
For anyone interested do a search on real estate price in this area of Jamaica Estates your eye balls will pop out of their sockets.
As for the rest who go begging many of them have mental, drug and beer problems can't hold a job down and just want to live off the government so they can have free medical, dental. transportation, food, blankets, clothes etc. And all that have to work to make ends meet with prices passing the sky scrapers pay for them to be where the are right now.

The Salvation Army, which is in about every major city around the world is ready to assist people in any way. I carry around some cards that I got from the Salvation Army and refer anyone asking for money to them. The Salvation Army houses an enormous amount of people with three meals a day, but you can not be consuming alcohol or drugs. That is why most of these people do not go, but at least I enlighten them to this fact.

My rule is $1. If I even have cash, and depending on the situation. I felt really bad when I was approached in the grocery parking lot by a guy who just needed bus fair to get to work. I had nothing. But I don't give anything to the bums who hang out outside the nearby burger joint. Because there's a liquor store right next to it!

I was approached by two boys (age 10-12 yrs?) in a mall recently while shopping with my daughter. They were asking for money. I looked at their clothing and shoes and realized that they were wearing better than me!!! LOTS BETTER!!! I told them to go find their parent. My daughter gave them her pocket change. Later, walking down the parking lot an man was asking for $1 or for any food for him and his dog....I helped him. The difference.....need. I wish I could have done more for the man and his dog and angry at the boys (not to mention the parents of the boys.) I feel guilt that we as a society do not do more to help the needy.

There are organizations for these people to go to. I never give this way. The truth is that most of them have more than we do. Like the blind man begging. Then goes around the corner and counts his money and laughs. I have seen it happen. Give to the reliable funds and shelters to ease your conscience.

I do feel bad for them but sometimes people like that are just druggies or alcoholics. Now I said sometimes not all the time. I do wish I could save the world but not one person can do this.

well of course i feel bad.
but babe, in some countries, there are certain selfish-stupid person who 'manages' these beggers, and make profit from these poor helpless people.
in other countries, the case of kidnapping children and then cutting off their their hands or legs, are very famous. these children will be send to markets or streets to 'beg' for money from us! surely we'll have second thought of giving them money then, right?

Its very sad...It bothers me when people who are able to
contribute, like celebrities, spend their money on other countries and not their own...It happens to good people as well as those who check out of life productivity by choice....I do my part best I can but more could be done if it weren't for greed and ignorance by those in positions to help..>=)
(I feel better now,thanks-)
