Where I live we really don't have a problem with teenagers misbehaving. They usually go to the local haunted house, trail, or woods attractions. You might get the occasional smashed pumpkin on the sidewalk but that's about it. The cost isn't such a big deal. You can go to wal mart and buy a cheap costume or make one yourself.

I don't know, I think that it should and shouldn't be banned.
It should probably be banned because of the "teepeeing" with toilet paper and egging houses, especcially in CA because of the smoke all around. I also Don't think that it should be banned because of the children that dress up to have fun showing their little costumes off. And that's really cute when they do. So I'm mostly on the "Not Banning Halloween" side just for the sake of the "little" children. Also, most teenagers are out in parties and such. =)
So not much to worry about.

I think grown-ups should remember what it was like when they were kids and how much fun they had. I'm an adult and Halloween's still one of my favorite holidays. Besides it's not an American thing people have celebrated all hollows eve for centuries. Teenagers are gonna vandalize something anyways might as well be a pumpkin you can clean off the street or eggs you wash off your house rather than a broken window or damaged cars.

I deduce from your mention of "American" that you're in the UK, because only a couple of biased groups in American have any interest in banning Halloween here. And I have heard that the Halloween celebrations in the UK cause many people great confusion and anger, unaware of or uninterested in participating in trick or treating. I say it's great fun, harmless, if not beneficial to the human psyche, and the more people thinking of great ideas, sewing costumes and building haunted house displays the better for everyone. It's creative, artistic, thoughtful, cathartic, fun, delicious, social, historical... What could be wrong?

Well, banning it because a few people abuse it is a bad idea. Also, banning it because it promotes people spending money is a pretty non-American way of thinking.
The people who want halloween banned usually want to do it for religious reasons. For that reason, halloween will not be banned. It is against the law in the US to craft a law that is designed to benefit or harm someone's religion or that person's practice of. Banning halloween on religious grounds would be an example of a law that prohibits people's freedom of religion.

no, it's stupid, but it's fun
alot of the things in this world is stupid, but fun, and it's not banned
throwing eggs?
cost of candy?
you can turn off the lights for one night and pretend to not be home
or you can spulrge $1 to buy a bag of candy and put it in a bowl outside the door and tape a piece of paper that says, take 1 please, leave some for others
not a big deal

Halloween as currently "celebrated" isn't a holiday, it's just another excuse for the shops to sell stuff: candy, decorations, outfits and more consumer goods that no one really needs.
All Hallows is a true holiday that celebrates those who have gone before us into glory.
