Im 38 weeks & 1 day....
So, i have been achy all day and started having contractions. My stomach and back hurt. Alot of menstural like cramping, MY stomach feels tight like it does when you have to tight of pants on. I took shower, did hair, did make-up, cleaned dishes. Im still tryin to do some things even though im hurting! OKAY...So..I went to the bathroom and there was blood on the toilet paper. Not like chunks but more like streaks. I went to bathroom again and nothing..So it was just that one time. I was in the hospital last week and was dialated 2cm and i was having contrax consistently 2-5 mins apart but dr sent me home being only 2cm. This is the same crampy i was feeling.
I am not sure what I should do. My dr is outta town till Nov.4 so i have 2 c the dr on call. Do dr's on call induce you if you are making some progress and just want to speed things up? I am not sure what to do...Hubby is @ work till 3 so Im trying to wait for him to get home!!

I called OB @ hospital and they said drink water and lay down. If cramping goes away its not labor if it dont then i need to call them back. I explanined to her that I have had this crampy since last night and she said to come in and just be checked! This will be the 3rd time going in to see if it was labor so MAYBE 3RD TIMES A CHARM!!!

WOW this sounds like when i found out i was in labor with my son and then some things remind me of when i was in labor with my daughter. and to my knowledge a doctor wont induce you if you are making progress. if your making progress your making progress. now if you were to get admitted to the hospital for making progress and then contractions stop for some reason then yes they may induce you (or give you pitocin) try and wait until hubby gets home and go back to L&D doesnt hurt to get checked out. i went about 2 times iwth my son to the hospital before i was finally admitted and labor was a rockn and rollin.. and my daughter was 3rd times the charm... good luck crossin my fingers for you

the blood could be from either (your water might ahve broke?) coudl also be from your cervix dialating.. could also be you losing your mucas plug. if you had an exam last week if can also still cause you to have some blood come out.

still again i wish you luck.. if your really worried about it call your local L&D or your doctor ask them what they think you should do...

Its labor, the streaks are blood show from losing your mucus plug. Your cervix is most likely dilated more than before.

If you're still having contractions its time to head for the hospital. The feeling like you need to poop is the position of the baby being ready for birth. You're moving right along.

Babies are born even when doctors are out of town. Call your OB's office and ask them what to do. If you're in labor theyre not going to tell you to wait until after your doctors vacation, they have processes set up for these times.

Sounds like ;you are in early labor. Should be anytime now. The blood (since it was such a small amount) is most likely nothing to worry about. Probably from everything stretching and getting ready down there. I'd call your doc though (the one on call) Tell them what is going on. I doubt they will induce you. Drs don't usually like to do that unless the baby is too late in coming or you are having problems. You can always go to the hospital and have them check you out and see how far along in the process you are. That's most likely what i would do.

You can also call the hospital and talk to one of the nurses on maternity floor. I did that once. I thought I was in labor. She told me what to watch for...etc. My Dr. was out of town too..that's why I called them.

It's called "bloody show".

Definition: A mucousy, pink, red, or brown tinged discharge from the vagina. This usually indicates that the cervix is opening. It may or may not signal labor.

Although for you, it sounds like it *may* be the beginning of labor.

Call the doctors on call and ask if you should go to the hosptial.. or just go to the hospital, worst case is they send you home.. however that's better then giving birth a baby by yourself :) Good luck hon.

This could be the normal stages of labor, however, any blood in the late term of pregnancy may not be a good sign. I would go to the ER at your local hospital to get checked if you feel an immediate danger or any gut feeling that something may be wrong. I would not hesitate to get checked out no matter what the outcome. Good Luck!

keep busy that is good and if the contractions continue and get more intense get to the hospital because then it is real labor. if it is fake labor than when you work like doing dishes take a shower they will go away. Congrats mommy your almost there!

btw.. the blood is probably just your mucus plug since you aren't bleeding anymore.

you're in labor!
time the cramps (contractions, i'd guess)
and then call the doc on call.
depending on what the doc says, you might be able to wait a bit for hubby to get home, but either way i'd give him a call, let him know not to dawdle & make sure he stays near a phone in case things go faster... which they might, since it sounds like the baby is engaged (down real low, putting pressure on your colon so you feel like you have to poo)

it sounds like your in labor... they say when the baby is ready to come out it feels like you have to have a bowel movement because the butt and vagina are parallel... so i would definitely call the on call dr. so you can be checked...good luck

Call your doctor instead of asking the question on here. Your doctor knows more about your pregnancy than we do. ASK YOUR DOCTOR!!!!!!!
