The Liberals claim that racism is a form of hatred due to ignorance, not understanding the other "race".
Racism is a modern thing; very modern, since the time of the American Revolution.
It was initiated by the rich colonists; they feared the poor (due to numbers), they feared the black slaves, they feared the Indians, they feared pirates and foreign ships.
There plan was to teach the "white trash" to hate all the other groups to serve as a buffer between all those fears and the rich.
Before that, slaves had nothing to do with color; Rome and Greece did not care what color a person was; if they were defeated during war, survivors became slaves. It was that simple. American Colonists, as above, taught hatred of other colors.
You are right, it makes no sense. But in the scenario you used, I would think that the husband would then hate all other men, or if he thought it was his wife's fault, would hate all women.

that starts at home. You have people that where raised to hate any other race and goes on for generation and generation. But if you raise you children to never dislike a person because of their race the world could and would be a better place.

My guess is familiarity. Most people have known a lot more people of their own race while knowing just a few of another race. This causes people to generalize rather than to look at each person individually.

It's not and I hate it. My fiancee is black my sister-in-law is mexican and i'm white. Who cares what color skin you are? Just because one black person did something to make you mad doesn't mean that all will do it. Lots of white people make me mad but I don't take it out on all of them. This whole world disgusts me.

It's not justified. It's irrational. At this moment he's hurt and in denial. He's displacing his anger. It's easier at him to be angry at blacks than it is for him to be angry at his wife's infidelity. Had it been a white guy, he would be likely say the guy seduced her, say he was a preacher, he'd likely be angry at all preachers. Do you get the drift? His emotions are clouded and distorted right now. In time he may see the error of his ways. Good luck. 2D

inferiority complex.
In the example, the white guy was probably already racist (if even subconsciously), and now has justification (in his mind).
