depends all on ur bosses sense of humor.. although i do agree w/ many others.. the boss shouldnt "ask" you what u got her for her bday.. unless she/he was smiling and just joking around...
i would not do it unless you and your boss gets along well and are able to joke.. if ur wanting to do this gesture because you dont like your boss. you will most likely get fired , cause that boss isnt to fond of you..

You could most definately get written up for disrespect to your senior advisor... Just kindly remind her that you work for a professional organization and you are not required to by gifts for anyone. But most definately, I understand exactly where you are coming from being active duty for 6+ years now!
