Kobe is one of the best players in the NBA 2day. The greatest player to ever play the game is MICHAEL JORDAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kobe is the best, He don't make his team worse. Who was Odom before the Lakers? Brown? Kobe didn't make Fisher worse, or Shaq, or Fox, or Horry! It has to do with chemistry and the Lakers don't have it... yet. If Kobe just gives this team 2-3 more years, they will be the top 3-4 in the West. Maybe even win a championship or two. It took the 3peat Lakers 3 years (96-97 to 99-00) and that was with everyone (except Kobe) at there best!! Without Kobe, this team would have to start from scratch. He is the offense. He is the best in the league. He is the best in the world, Maybe even the best ever!!!!!

Kobe is the best single player in the NBA... if there was a 1-on-1 tournament, Kobe would beat Lebron in the finals.

So based on talent yes, he is number 1.

But not the best team player

No.

For instance, take a look at LeBron James's numbers and you will see that he has overtaken Kobe. Not only that, but LeBron leads his team to victory. He was just playing in the NBA Finals in just his 4th year, and that's with no other notable player on his team!

Other players who are greater are Shaquille O'Neal (career), Tim Duncan (career) and Dwyane Wade (right now).

Yeah, it's true Kobe's selfish and his biggest weakness over the years has been his reluctance to share the spotlight or more importantly the ball, with anyone else.
But there are alot of selfish players in the league, and Kobe's the only one who can have crazy streaks of 50 point games and record shattering 81 point nights.

it depends what standard you're using to judge. if you want the best single player in the league, that is kobe bryant. but basketball is a team game and to win you need a team to be effective. as such, you cant consider kobe to be the best player in the league because he actually makes his teammates worse. all you need to do is look at kobe's recent results with the lakers. he hasnt been able to get past the second round of the playoffs even with his ability to drop 50 on a team on any given night. therefore in my opinion and using my standards of judgement i'd have to pick someone else to be the best player in the league.

Kobe is the Lakers. Thats the only reason why he has 50 points a game because hes selfish. Everyone throws him the ball... because they all suck... In my mind Steve Nash is the best player in the NBA.

No Kobe is not the best player in the NBA. What has he done without Shaq? Would he have won any titles at all without Shaq? Kobe is a selfish Jordan wanna be. He has all the ability in the world, but his attitude is horrible, and the fact that his play is selfish and that he doesnt make his teamates better is just another reason why is not the best. Look at good teamates like Nash, D-Wade, Duncan, LeBron. Those cats make their teams better and they are all capable of posting huge individual stats in the process.

Yes and No. He is the most talented player in the NBA, but too selfish. He could be the next Jordan if he made his teammates better, but he doesn't.
