The car could be missing...depends on how long it has been since the car has had a tune up (new spark plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, and module)...if the car is missing it will most likely shake when it is idling and it will lag when you hit the gas...if a car misses that means that it is pushing unburnt fuel thru the exhaust valves and on out the exhaust pipe, this can be caused by a number of things but the most likely is that you either have one or more bad plugs or plug wires that are not allowing the engine to make the fuel combust...hope this helps...if something else happens feel free to email me...

Typical Chrysler Corp. Check the fuel tank seams around the tank (horizontally) and where the support bands surround the tank. While it's in the air check all fuel lines forward from on top of the gas tank. Any car dealership could find a fuel leak in seconds.

The fuel odor could be a leak in the fill tube to the tank. If this occurs after you've filled up. prepare to not fill to the top. It could be a leak in the top of the tank, if that's the case the tank will need to be removed in order to fix the problem. In either case, the tank will need to be removed in orderto fix the problem.

The other problem is hard to identify the way you described it, but a mechanic can quickly diagnose the problem, free of charge !
