I have tried heavy strings, light strings, heavy picks, light picks. I know its something to do with my technique. It only happens when I am playing while standing up. Plus it always seems to be the A string (second one down) I have been playing only 2 years or so and this only started happening when I started jamming at studios.

There is no way it's your technique would be causing the snapped string, especially the A string. This had got to be a problem wth your guitar. Check out the nut and bridge to see if there is a problem there. It might need an entire intonation set up. I would say there is something causing the string to wear through faster than it should, then snap. If you can't find a problem there, take the axe to a tech.

Possibly not your technique , let a guitar builder have a look at your instrument's neck , it might need adjustment . I had the same problem with my 12string and the neck was warped , so the G-string always snapped .
Best of success !

Try a lighter plectrum, or don't hit the strings so hard,
