The legislation banned gifts, meals, and travel funded by lobbyists, and has been called "the most significant ethics reform since Watergate."

The House and the Senate also passed a bill to raise the minimum wage for the first time in a decade. They made America safer by passing all of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission. They passed a bill to promote stem cell research by expanding federal funding by lifting restrictions, which should soon reach the President's desk.

The Senate has held 58 oversight hearings on the war in Iraq, compared to the last (Republican-led) Senate holding zero. In addition, Democrats have crafted legislation to remove our troops from the civil war in Iraq so that we can change the course.

On top of it all, House Democrats have passed legislation to make college more accessible by lowering the interest rate on student loans. They've passed bills ranging from making America more energy independent to making health care more affordable

They passed a lot of so called reforms reforms funded by "lobbiyists" which we know they have no intention of enforcing. It has been called "the most significant ethics reform since Watergate" as has every ethics reform passed since Watergate such as McCain Feingold etc.

They raised the minimum wage wich is a tax on businesses paid for by the taxpaying consumer, benefiting labor unions who have contracts that use the minimum wage as a factoring device and hurts young people seeking their first job. (congratulations)

They passed the recommendations of the 9/11 comission without opposition (a no brainer).

The president will soon veto the stem cell bill because it is unethical and unnecessary.

The held 58 showboat hearings that accomplished nothing but gave them plenty of opportunity to make false accusations and sling so much mud that the voters finally began to revolt.

They crafted several bills to try to take some of the Constitution power invested in the Commander-in-Chief away and give it to the Legislative Branch with, of course, was vetoed. Saves having it overturned by the Supreme Court at least.

They made a lot of phoney resolutions and other nonsense claiming to remove our troops from Iraq while all the time fully aware that there is only one thing the Constitution allows Congress to do and that is cut the funding. (but they really don't want to take the troops out of Iraq, just demagogue the issue).

All in all they have succeeded in fooling their far out extreme base that they would do all kinds of stuff while making sure they sling a lot of mud but accomplish none of it.

The rest of their socialist bills stand no chance.

Political History they Censured a private citizen.

Also they funded a War that they said was righteous and then was wrong but they are still funding it.

In a year they have had more NON binding resolutions than all other congress's combined. The passed a min. Wage increase,,,,,,,,,,wow..... that is impressive... wait there is more, they have had 57 oversight hearings on a war that they authorized and are funding... Who are they overseeing,,, themselves, and what the hell have these oversight hearings done.... Nothing... All Pelosi and Reid have done is further divide an already divided body. Newt Gingrich did more in his first 30 days than this congress will do in two years.

What they have accomplished is what no other congress has before: Given us absolute proof as to why the majority party needs enough votes to override vetoes and overcome filibusters.

Well, not a lot.

I'll give them props for not appeasing their base and trying to impeach Bush, and continuing to fund the war.

And they did pass Armenian Genocide, which is a mix of good and bad, and fairly irrelevant. We have blood on our hands too and other country's affairs are not our own. Especially 100 year old ones.

Well, they did increase the minimum wage which will hurt everyone in the long run. As minimum wage goes up so does everything else - why, to cover the additional cost of paying higher wages.

Sadly, not much. It's a disappointment for us Democrats, too.

I think things will improve once our President is a Democrat...

Edit: Wow, Goldenrae9 actually answered your question with information. She should get the 10 pts.
And she made me feel better about the congress!
