Missouri is known as the "Show Me" state. Don't know where that came from, but the saying "I'm from Missouri" means "Show me," or, to put it another way "Prove to me what you're saying is true."

Missourians have a reputation as "The Show Me State".
When someone states a fact, or otherwise, to a Missourian, they have been know to reply, "Show me".
Meaning that they doubt the statement, and want some verification or proof.

When someone says, "I'm from Missouri", the above is implied.

Missouri is called "The show me state." I usually use or hear it as, "I'm from Missouri on that one," meaning, "You're going to have to show me proof before I believe that."
