It can happen. Thirty years ago things looked as if they might be moving that way here too. The PIE (Paedophile Information Exchange) were openly organising in the UK and now and then were featured sympathetically in liberal/left media outlets.
Then we woke up. I bet the Dutch wake up too, sooner or later.

Just because an individual or group campaigns for an idea, doesn't mean the majority accept it, or will accept it
Now a question for you:
In what way have we gone pretty far in this country?
Is it legal for gays to marry, or openly be in the military?
Is it legal to have sex with animals?
Is sodomy legal in all parts of this country?
Is porn legal in all communities in this country?

There are already people in the US who are campaigning for the legalization of adult-child sex. For instance there is the North American Man Boy Love Association. It's not popular here, but that could change if we don't watch out.
