Because it's a foundation.. a place to start. If you aren't honest with yourself, chances are you aren't honest with anyone else either and sooner or later you'll be uncovered as a fake, would that really make you happy?
Have respect for yourself, be true to youself and the rest will fall in place.

Its very important if you really think about! Because if you have no way of being honest with ones self, then how can you expect to be honest towards others?

Authenticity is comforting. Lies are difficult to maintain - even with yourself. The maintenance can cause stress.
On the other hand...talking yourself up a bit can improve your self esteem.

You can't help but to be honest with yourself. Who else know the true your better than yourself? It's easy to not be honest with other. There is no way you can lie to yourself unless you have serious denial issues.
