It is Fred Thompson. He will stomp Hellary Rotten Clinton in any debate.

Thompson's conservative credentials are strong and one of the many advantages he offers to the GOP and the nation is that he has the clout and name recognition to defeat Hillary and/or Obama the likely Democrat nominees.

Thompson also offers something that is not in the current field of GOP candidates. His strong conservative stands coupled with the name recognition makes him a very viable candidate unlike other conservatives in the field like Tom Tancredo and Duncan Hunter. Both are good men and strong conservatives but unfortunately facing the facts neither has the ability to win in November 2008.

In a comparison to the top tier candidates, Giuliani, McCain and Romney, Thompson is more conservative than each of the three. Romney's record despite his conservative talk of late is very left of center. McCain has irritated much of the GOP base and again he is centrist or left of center. Giuliani while conservative on foreign policy and issues involving the war has received much criticism for his liberal stances on social issues.

Thompson is not a far right conservative but his voting record and stand on issues defiantly puts him very right of center. With the seeming collapse of the GOP and the recent news of grassroots support of the party decreasing because of the immigration issue, Thompson has the capability of bringing the base and those who are somewhat disillusioned with the GOP back to the fold.

This factor also is another reason for the surge in popularity for his candidacy since it again emphasizes his ability to beat the Democrat nominee and prevent the likely nominee Hillary Clinton from gaining The White House. Additionally his strong conservative stands will force the GOP to once again base the party platform on conservative ideals that brought the party into prominence in the 80's under Reagan and into power in 1994.

Thompson will stop the GOP from running away from conservatism and rather embrace it especially if he continues to gain support as he has been. The latest Rasmussen poll shows that since his announcement he has taken the lead from Rudy and now is increasing the gap each week.

Fred Dalton Thompson, conservative values, ideals and leadership that brings to the 2008 Presidential race what the country is looking for.

Rudy is popular becasue of 9/11, but Mitt Romney is making a run at the popularity contest. Both are good republican candidates. The Republican Ticket should be Romney and Guilini. Rudy will have trouble in the debates where Mitt has done a lot while in office, and any flaws that he has is overshadowed by those of the Democrat party. So Mitt is the best candidate.

I dont like Hillary but then again I don't like any of the GOP candidates either.... I don't think that any of them can match her popularity or the resignation of the American people towards her. I wouldn't say she is popular but I think she is capable of running that office and a lot of people think this too... I just don't want another Clinton or a Bush within 2 miles of the White House ever again.

Wished that Colin Powell was running but he was so burned by his presentation to the UN that I am afraid that he will never run again.

None, after I voted Bush in 2000, never again. The only way a Republican can get elected is if churches brainwash their members telling them how to vote. The only words allowed from the audience is "Amen", "Halleluyah," and "That's Right Brother." Anyone who speaks otherwise loses their religious social life and is escorted out of the church. Yes, That is Brainwashing.

Ho hum. For most Americans, this election is going to be about change. Republicans are the pro-war status quo party. The last election swept the Reps out of the senate and house. This one will sweep the Prez out. Hillary 2008!!

Probably Rudy Guiliani; but I don't care too much for him. I don't think Fred Thompson has the fire or the intelligence to beat Hillary Clinton. Fred Thompson can't even tell you why he voted for certain bills or even remember some of the bills. Hillary Clinton would have a field day with Mitt Romney's flip-flopping. I think John McCain may be able to garner up enough support nationally.

I think a better word to use in context with Hillary is notoriety, as opposed to popularity.

McCain. He may not be the most popular, but in debates, he will crush her on integrity, character, boldness, sacrifice, foreign policy, finance, political experience, duty and honor. Everything an American President should be. She has none of those qualities. John McCain is simply the most qualified candidate, if not the most popular in either field. I hope to God America wakes up and realizes this.

She is popular with the liberal media, but not with the American people. The polls don't show her being that popular, and the people aren't that dumb to buy into her.
