Is there someone in the house that could have the remote and just be trying to spook you? If not you could unplug the TV (although that didn't work in the movie "The Ring")

My TV did that one night after I went to bed. It freaked me out too. I figured out that when I used my universal remote right before I went to bed, it somehow didn't turn off the TV completely, just the cable box. Then when my DVR started to record something, the TV turned back on. It is a little creepy, isn't it? But it's probably just some technical thing.

Wow! sounds like the opening lines of a movie like "Scream!" or "Poltergist!" Of course it could've been that the button was off by just enough that it turned itself back on. And then again, it could always be a displaced demon... sheesh, that would be really awful if it was! Anyway, in any case, get out the sage, burn it as you walk from room to room since sage cleanses your home of anything nasty that might want to stick around. Say prayers too! The power of the Lord can't hurt can it? ღ♥ღ♥ღ

This has happened to me before a couple of times. I was scared to, but I think it's more fun to believe it's a ghost than to think logically. Electricity is always running, even when something is turned off, so it's likely your tv just turned on because of that and not because of paranormal activity. Don't worry, if the ghost wanted to harm you he/she would have done more than turn on your tv.

Well it is close to Halloween. Most likely someone has a TV with the same remote control as yours and yours just happened to catch the signal.
I wouldn't worry about it. I know it is spooky but relax. If you start seeing things moving around the walls, then you can start worrying. good luck.

Ok. First - Calm Down! please!
I had the same thing with my xbox 360 driving wheel - It moved by itself for 25 minuets :s
Second - Unplug the tv! that'll teach it a lesson.
Finaly - Here is a hug to make you feel better *hug*
Hope that helped :)

It have happen to me and my colleague too. We were working in our seperate shifts. One day, I was working on my shift at my workplace and I put the TV off. I was auditing the records & ledgers, suddenly the TV got on automatically. It was the glitch. Then next week, my colleague told me that it had happened to him too. so the very next day, we told the problem to our maintainance department and they fixed it.
I think, the problem you are talking it , is a glitch or technical error inside the TV. Contact your TV service provider. DON't WORRY ! It had happened to me while I was working alone at 2 am in the morning at my job.

It is just a power surge, it happens to laptops, computer, tvs, etc. It is nothing to worry about. One time my laptop auto turned on one time and went haywire, and it scared the crap out of me. everything is "a" ok.
