i am in a custody battle and we are being sent to mediation for the second time. the first time did not go well at all, as i wasn't allowed to speak at all and my ex would constantly interupt me. its now a year and a half later and we are going to the same mediator and was wanting to know what a mediator is supposed to do in these matters so i have an idea of how to prepare for it.

A mediator trys to solve the problems between two other parties. When you go back, have them state the "ground rules" that each person has to follow. These can include each of you speaking your piece with no interuptions. He/she, is not an actual mediator if only one side has a say.

A mediator is a person that has no connection to either party and listens to each person without bias and gives an opinion based on what he/she has heard!
