A MAN SHOULD NEVER HIT A WOMAN PERIOD. ONCE HE LIFTS HIS HANDS GET OUT, AND NEVER GO BACK.

Never ok. Men can almost always outrun women - that's what one should do if things threaten to become physical.
The only conceivable exception would be if some crazed female is attacking your family members, and you have to intervene to prevent your wife, child, or loved one from being kidnapped or injured.
Otherwise, run like heck. You'll get no sympathy whatsoever from policemen, judges, DA's, your own family, etc, no matter what the circumstances (other than the 1 above, where you clearly have no choice). You can get in trouble at work, any firearms you own can be confiscated, and you'll have a hefty legal bill. Your reputation may take some major hits and a day or two in jail is an unpleasant, possibly dangerous experience.
He who runs away ... avoids lawsuits, jail, and pain.

If she attacked the man first with a knife or a gun or something like that...the circumstances better be extreme. It is not ok to hit a woman for any reason except self defense. It is called abuse.

THERE ARE NOT MUCH OTHER REASONS TO HIT A GIRL UNLESS SHE'S TRYING TO INJURE OR KILL YOU. IF A GUY THINKS ITS OK TO HIT A GIRL FOR CIRCUMSTANCES OTHER THAN THIS IN THE CASE WHERE HE CAN WALK AWAY, THEN HE'S GOT ISSUES. HITTING A GIRL UNLESS ITS SELF DEFENSE DOESN'T MAKE ANYTHING RIGHT AND IT SURE AS HELL DON'T MAKE HIM A MAN.

I have never, and would never lay a finger on a female. I am always for defense. I am a honest blunt guy. I know when I am in the wrong, and if I am.. I'll take what I would deserve. For any other circumstance, noone lays a finger on me.

As a woman, my feelings are if she hits him first or attacks him with a weapon, he's got the right to defend himself and/or hit back. However most guys are a lot stronger than most women so if he chooses to retaliate, he should not use force that could do substantially more damage than she did to him. She might barely be able to bruise him, and he could break a bone or kill her (for example) if he wasn't careful.

If it was done to protect myself or in defense of another - I'd have no problems with striking a woman... of course, I'd try other courses of action prior to that -- but if push came to shove... physical violence might become necessary.

Of course, we're talking actually violent "hitting" -- not playful sex games or anything like that, right??

A woman should also never hit a man except in self defense.

It is never okay.
My wife and I differr on this topic. She says if a woman hits a guy then it's okay but I say never no way ain't gonna happen in my life time.
Any man that hits a woman is a lowlife and should be force fed his testicles.
