I'm painstakingly chipping a concrete screed off the top of a 1930s quarry tile floof.... it's literally mm x mm at a time. Please can someone tell me of an easier way?? Is there an acid for this purpose?
Please help.... I'm SO FED UP!!!

Thanks guys... the screed is about 2mm thick and yes I do want to save the quarry tiles - so dont want any acid to damage the tiles.

it all depends on what thickness the screed is and do you want to salvage the quarry tiles the easiest way would be to use a small sds drill with a chisel attachment on and set to chisel mode then once you get to the bottom of the screed then you can start breaking it up at an angle /if it is just spashes then i would advise using a brick acid from your local builders yard that shouild work !

You don't say where you're located (town/city) there is a product which is an acid type substance.... It removes/consumes concrete then wash the area thoroughly.

Here's the downside....I don't know if you can buy it in the UK or outside of Spain. There might be an equivalent

It's called "Agua fuerte" try a swimming pool supplier it's sometimes used verrrrry diluted :)

Use diluted Sulphuric acid and don't forget add acid in to water and not water into acid, leave it on the cement for about 15 minutes till it stops frothing start purring a little water at a time and then brush it off using a nylon brush or broom. you should be able to order a small amount of acid from your local chemist.

If you are in the UK get FEB CLEAN or DIS CLEAN from your local builders merchant, although it is really only for removing cement/mortar splashes on brickwork it will remove the last remnants of screed from your tiles.
It is dilute hydrochloric acid and dissolves the lime in the cement.

Try Muratic Acid. The guy that suggested goingto the pool supplier hit it right on the dot. They sell it by the gallon, undiluted. Pretty powerfull stuff. And stinky too! So wear a mask or cover your face

Certain acids will eat through concrete but they may also scar your tile floor (and your hands). Try sulfuric acid but wear gloves!!!
