Its not difficult to beat a lie detector test if you know what to do. Some people are a natural born liar and they truly believe their own lies so taking a lie detector test within 6 months isn't strange. My question would be why wait so long to do it.

First of all , Im not sure that I would count emails and chats as a serious form of cheating. Its growing intimate with someone outside of the relationship, but problems like those can usually be easily resolved. And passing a lie detector test doesnt mean that your partner isnt lying. If you partner offered to paid for it, that doenst mean anything either. You all need to dig a little deeper and evaluate your problems at the root.

A lie detector test plays off of your nerves. A lie detector test will not work on people with certain mental disorders or for someone can control their nerves. Several people have been able to pass polygraphs this way, even though they were guilty, by being calm and relaxed. Do you think he is capable of doing this? If he is going on-line and having a mental relationship with someone, that's almost just as bad. I would still be leery.

There are ways to cheat a lie detector test. If they knew the test was coming, they could have prepared for it.

Also, if a person genuinely does not feel they have cheated (their definition of cheating may differ from yours), the test will not show that they cheated.

If I had to make my partner take a lie detector test in order to "be sure" they hadn't cheated, then the relationship isn't worth keeping.

And it's way, way, way too easy to fool a lie detector test - that's why they're not admissible in US courts.

i don't know about the 6 month thing that realy depends on the person. But lie detectors are realy accurate and that would be alot of money to waist if you knew there was a chance you might not pass it! No way they cheated if you ask me. trust them a lil <3

No, because I know of five different ways of passing them while lieing and my dad knows several more. So I put no faith in lie detector tests of that and because it is all subjective of the person reading it the test, if you are sick it can change the out come, etc.

Those tests are SO easy to trick - that's why they don't hold up in court. They only help when someone is a bad liar.
If you have chat and e-mail EVIDENCE, he can deny it until he's blue in the face, but that doesn't mean his words are true.

It sounds to me like you WANT to believe he's not cheating. If that's the case, forgive and forget. We could all tell you to dump him, but you're not going to listen.
