I don't think all the fires were the work of an arsonist. Some may have occurred naturally through combination of dry bush and lightning. Some may even be accidental like campers leaving a fire and thinking it was properly extinguished when it wasn't.

I think it's possible some were set deliberately as well.

I don't think it's a "either-or" scenario.

One was started by downed power lines, that they know. And as of now authorities confirmed at least one was the result of arson.

This happens ever year, like clockwork. It's not an American phenomena either. A while back Greece suffered several devastating wild fires, most of which were the result of arson.

Guess there are people all over the world who get their kicks by setting fires then watching the results on TV. Talk about some sick bastards.

Stranger still several years ago there was a string of brush fires in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, all arson. They eventually caught the man responsible, he was a firefighter on contract with the U.S. Forest Service.

Some of them were started intentionally. One was accidently started by construction workers careless with a welding torch. One was started by an exploding transformer.

the one in Orange County was, definitely, but they are still investigating the rest of the fires. I'm sure more will be determined to be arson, as well.
