NO, New Providence Island was not wiped out by a hurricane.

When arriving via ship into Nassau, take first available taxi over to Paradise Island and go straight to Atlantis... enjoy your time there, and on way back to ship.. get off the taxi and walk back through the small quaint old town to the ship.

A lovely over-the-water place for lunch is the PoopDeck Marina Restaurant... (just southeast of the bridge to Paradise Island.

Enjoy yourself.

There haven't been any hurricanes in the Bahamas recently to cause any damage.

Most of the major cruise lines stop in Nassau, rather than Freeport -- the pier is within walking distance to the shopping area in town (stores are closed on Sundays). If you want to go to the beach or snorkeling or to Atlantis, you'll have to take a taxi or book a shore excursion (details of those offered by the cruise line will be included in your cruise documents).

Happy cruising!

No hurricane damage in Nassau.
Freeport is good. You can do a snorkel excursion or check out the Port Lucaya Market Place. Bars, 80 shops, plenty of restaurants.

Try a Bahama Mama drink, you'll be happy)

Freeport is great. If you want some info on places to check out while your there hit up Caribbean Resorts World.
