No, i think we straddle Europe and the US more effectively than any other country.

We have many linkages with the US but they are mainly caused by us rather than the US. Our culture is such a blend of what you find in the US & Canada and continental Europe. But it is changing more towards Europe I think, mainly due to the fact the amount of breaks we take to cities such as Paris, Prague and Berlin.

The US may have popular culture influence, but other parts of our culture are our own or come from Europe.

Saying that if Irish people would get off their arses and learned a foreign language we may not be as dependent on the US and UK for tourism and trade.

to all those morons who have educated us about the geographical position of ireland (we all know where ireland is so does the asker!):
51st state, in American political discourse, is a phrase that refers to territories considered candidates for addition to the fifty states already part of the Union. While sometimes used in a serious political context, it is sometimes used derogatively to refer to Canada as a whole, despite the country's 10 provinces and 3 territories. Before 1959, when Alaska and Hawaii joined the U.S., the term "the 49th state" was used. Less often, "51st State" refers to countries which are, or are perceived to be, under U.S. control or influence. For example, the 1986 single "Heartland" by The The contains a repeated refrain that "this [the UK] is the 51st State/ of the USA."

The term is used in Canada and other countries to signify negative U.S. influence viewed as excessive. In Australia and Europe, (perhaps most significantly in the UK), people who believe their local and/or national culture has become too Americanized sometimes use the term "51st state" in critical reference to their respective countries. The pejorative term 51st stater usually refers to non-U.S. residents who emulate mannerisms and culture of an American, or a non-American politician who is a supporter of the United States, especially its foreign policy, to an excessive degree.

nope
but if it does not sort itself out

it will soon be in a RIGHT STATE

you will need your passport to cross from north to south soon

so why do we not need passports to go across Europe
only needing to show them going into out of France

what happened to freedom of travel

and why do the French put a tax on us having cigarettes bought in another E U COUNTRY when we pass through FRANCE
IS THIS LEGAL as you have paid the tax already in an E U COUNTRY

why can MEPs get duty free in EUROPE yet stop this for everyone else

stop the rot
are we part of the EEC or not

*Look at all the bigoted insults about Americans from the Commonwealth subjects. Is this part of the Commonwealth educational system, to make sure you insult Americans at least once a day, similar to Iran teaching their children, "Death to America"?
