Everyone is so dang sorry for the dog, what about the chicken??? Once a dog starts sucking eggs or killing chickens, it's impossible to break them of it. And when they start out with chickens, they see how easy and fun it is to kill domesticated livestock and nearly always go on to bigger and better things. Next will be goats or sheep and finally cattle and horses. By the way, when a dog kills a larger animal, it's not quick and painless. Their favorite tactics are to rip their throat out and let them bleed to death or rip their abdomen open and let them lay there with their guts spilled on the ground. Usually dogs kill for enjoyment and don't eat the animal but I once killed a dog that ripped a sheep's belly open and was eating it's intestines while the animal was still alive. So I shot the poor dog??? Good enough for it. At least the dog died quickly while the poor sheep lay there being eaten alive. Most of you pansy wimps have never lived on a farm and have seen what dogs do. They killed 28 sheep on my friend's place and another guy had dogs kill one cute little calf and chew the leg off of another while that poor little helpless guy was still alive. The guy had to destroy that little fellow. By the way, the old cows walked the pasture bawling for their dead calves for several days afterwards. A woman I know had a pack of dogs attack her mare and foal. Apparently some must have kept the mare busy while others took the foal down and ripped it apart. I saw the foal and I was almost sickened by the sight of blood, raw meat and torn flesh. You "Oh the poor dog" pu**ies make me sick with your misplaced sympathy.

Even if he is sorry, you need to tell him that shooting a dog is COMPLETELY different than disciplining a dog...which is what should have been done instead. This is not acceptable and you know it. You have to tell him that it has hurt and confused you so much that you need your space and suggest some type of anger management counseling. Dogs are seriously like children in many ways, why do you think so many young married couples get dogs for? Its for practice! They need affection, discipline, food, shelter, etc. They will do things that upset you (like killing a chicken) but you can't kill a dog anymore than you can or should kill a misbehaved child! Think about it!

OMG!!! That is terrible!!! Well you need to forgive because the Lord forgave us for our sins. BUT I would be very very careful with him. Now that you see has a temper and actually killed a living thing and it sure wasn't a bug. That's pretty scarey. I really think he needs help because you don't know if he would turn on you if you made him made. I feel for you!!! I would even turn him in to the cops. If he does the crime then he has to pay the time for actions. Mainly to teach him a lesson. Show him that you would put up with that crap. He was wayyyyy out of line.

Be Careful if I were you

Good lord!!!!!!!!!!! That is just a dog thing the dog did. I have lost a lot of chickens to dogs.....my dogs didn't die. I don't know what to say to you about this.....I would be really freaked out though. I am sorry about your dog. Maybe just don't have free range chickens so that dogs or anything else can get to them.....I really don't know what I would do either.....cry a lot....yell at him....that is a tough one. I broke off with a man one time because my cat lost a foot and he hid the car keys so that I couldn't take her to the vet and yelled at me for wanting to. I am so sorry.

I have got to say anyone who kills a dog is a cruel MotherFu(ker.
There are red flags popping up for sure, I think if someone killed my dog, they would die in a horrible accident very shortly afterward.

Step 1: Remove all guns from house.

Step 2: Take keys to his car.

Step 3: Run!

He needs counseling to deal with his anger management issues. If not, you need to kick him to the curb because violent people are only going to get worse over time.

This is not good and how he expresed his anger was very exterm you need to get out of there before he does something to or you should try to take him to anger managment. And hide his shot gone.

You don't have to forgive him right away. His chicken melt a lot to him and so did your dog melt something to you. We love our dogs like children. We don't want anything to happen to them. So... tell him how you feel. Express your anger verbally. Let some time pass. Its okay to be anger. You lost someone dear to you. Don't forget to listen to his explanation as well.

If he's truly sorry, give yourself some time. You will be okay!
