I bough a Comapq Persario about 5 years ago. Since a year ago it has been giving power supply problems. I would have to keep on plugging the cord in and it evenualy worked. Then one day i moved the computer to a new spot in the house and when i pugged it in it starrted shooting sparks. Now it dosen't work. If i get a new power supply for the computer will it work again.

Computers are very vunerable to electricity.

If your power supply sparked, that is much more than static electricity.

If a new power supply doesn't work, you're going to have to hope that the power surge did not hit your Motherboard.

A professional after new supply failure would be in order.

Well, if it started shooting sparks you can only hope that only the power supply was affected. I would definitely start with a new power supply, but if it still doesn't work then you will need to take it to a professional (if you are not one) and have them troubleshoot further.
