Sometimes (not every time) when I start the engine (the first time), it's not running smooth or can't be started. However, it is OK and very smooth at every second attempt. This situation occurs more often when my car is not used for more than a few hours. I went check the battery but it showed alright. Anyone knows the reasons?

Year, Engine & Mileage would help.

1; Replace Fuel Filter! Remove and Clean Throttle Body!

2; Have Injectors Cleaned!

3; Have Throttle Position & o2 Sensors Checked!

4; How Old and What Condition is the Battery?

I can think of a couple of other things to check.

Hot day: Vapor lock. Hot gas gets expanded in the fuel line, keeping fresh fuel from entering easily. On the second try, the line now has fuel in it, and will flow more easily into the engine.

Starter may have burn spots on it, keeping it from turning the engine properly. This is rare, though and I feel that the vapor lock may be your best bet.

Computer system? Heat can be tough on electronics, especially when they are on the verge of failure! Pull computer codes to see,but it sounds like an ignition module is getting close to giving out on you! Good Luck! ;-)=
