looks are the 1st thing you see so they are important.some say they don't mean anything ,i don't beleive that. when you meet or are introduced to someone, your immediate thought is what's in front of you. no it's not the most important but they are important .

Looks are critical. For example, a person can have the best personality in the world, but if nobody looks at the person (for whatever reason), they won't get a chance to make an impression, plain and simple. This is case with getting dates by going to a bar, a club, or some public event where you don't see the same people. Image is everything in these cases.
Also in business. If a company has two candidates for a public affairs representative (somebody who is going to be on TV often, for example), and both candidates have exactly the SAME qualifications, the person the company CONSIDERS to be more physically beautifully will be chosen, because they know that person will receive a more favorable response from the public.
However, looks are not important when you have people together in long-term situations (work, school). This is where personality starts to win out. If you work with somebody every day, you will get to know them, looking past their physical aspect. Why do you think so many people have met their spouses at work or school?
So, I would say this: it depends on what you are after. If it is a superficial type of thing (being a model, getting a date after meeting somebody only one time), then looks are everything. However, if you are dealing with a long-term situation, then personality wins out.

Unfortunately, it means a lot. To me, if someone walks out of the house in pjs and hair under a hat every day - and they don't try at all, it tells me that they don't care. I take the time every day to take a shower, put on my makeup, coordinate an outfit, do my hair - and look like I am in the world to do something today. I think it matters. A Lot.

Extremely important. We have positive reactions to attractive people from early childhood.

I don't know really. I believe the key to sucess is self confidence. It depends on how you view yourself.
