There does seem to be at least 12 distinct personality types and they do seem to correspond to the 12 months and signs of the zodiac. I've studied the sociological aspects of astrology for a lot of years. When I factor in rising signs, the Moon, Mercury, Venus & Mars placements and such, I see more and more proof for astrology every day.

I understand that some people just simply choose NOT to believe and accept it. That's okay. Ignorance is a personal choice, right?

sarah jane, you are so misinformed. Astrology is a long time science which uses some of the most involved mathethical calculations. And today the horoscopes use computer accuracy. You can't make something be false just because you don't believe it.

Larry V, I never said that anyone is EXACTLY the same as everyone of their sun sign. I can't believe I'm having this conversation with a guy in a santa suit, LOL!

If there were something to the idea that the position of planets and stars influenced personalities and events, then one would expect that every planetary body in the galaxy would need to be taken into consideration, since obviously they all would have some effect. Distance can't be a factor, since even the distance of the moon is such that it exerts nearly no gravitational effect upon solid objects. So the effect would have to be some sort of quantum particle not yet discovered...

Seems too far fetched.

Instead, consider this - humans love to classify perceptions, with little awareness of the dissonance between reality and their classifications. Thus one can utter such statements as "all people, regardless of their upbringing, genetics, environment, education, will all exhibit the exact same personality if born on such and such a date..." Then of course, when someone argues with that, attempts to reconcile the dissonance by adding loopholes (ala planatary placements, etc.) to the point that the descriptions become so vague as to be applicable to a random reader...

I'm sure everyone knows what I'm going to say by now.

Produce the evidence, that can be examined. Undergo multiple tests by others so it can be verified. Get it published in a science journal. Go to Sweden and take home Nobel Prize for science. No more ignorance.

Either astrology can be tested – so astrologers, please tell us how. (And so far it has failed all well designed tests.) Or it can’t be tested – so astrologers please tell us how its rules were derived and how you know it works.

Which is it? Because it can’t be both.

The problem with astrology is that the charts don't account for the fact that the earth rocks on its axis. The sign you think you are isn't your "true" sign- there's more to it than the day of the month, the year has to be taken into account, too. That's the proof that it's false- because most people who think they're Virgo, for example, are not.

I think the Astrology/Horoscopes can help us learn something about a person's character. But the idea of not to believe it, I think is to encourage people to know someone, or ourselves, outside the stereotype, and to control your own life. (this is my opinion)
