The Physics of airbags?

Is there any good sites explaining the physics of air bags, this is for a research assignment. Any ideas, or explanations would be appreciated.

The basic idea is simple. It distributes the impact over a large area and for a longer time, so that the pressure at any one point is insufficient to cause serious damage. Wiki and google are good resources for details.
