a FEMA press conference held in CA yesterday turns out to have been a complete ruse. all of the people that asked questions have been confirmed to be FEMA employees that were given scripted questions to ask.
is this the Bush administrations idea of journalistic integrity?
according to experts this is the first time a national press conference has been known to have been completely staged.

sorry about not having a linkable source. i just heard this on a local conservative radio talk show on radio station WJFG.

Not surprising at all. This is the same administration that provided fake news feeds through the Department of Agriculture a few years ago.

Gee, what a surprise... another bogus photo op for this habitual media whore, and all of it - a sham.....journalistic integtrity? Have we seen any genuine integrity yet?
zzzzzzzz

How much more of this guy's incompetence and blunders and downright greediness can this country take? Jeez, another year is almost unfathomable. Will we be embroiled in WW3 this time next year? If this administrtion has their way - yes !

I don't know what made FEMA think that they were obligated to waste their time in a news conference to start with.
Let alone one with themselves as the only star.

Aren't they supposed to be managing emergency assistance not entertaining the American populous?

This shouldn't surprise anybody. This is typical of conservatives. Did you also notice that when Bush visited he went to Rancho Bernardo and the North Escondido. You know, where the wealthy live. Why didn't he spend any time where the middle and lower class lost their homes? He, in my opinion is a douche bag.

I like how the cons are calling you names and telling you to prove it. Typical. They can't do their own research. It's much easier for them to believe what is spoon fed to them through Fox News.

Fedup to correct you...it wasn't millions it was billions.

Edit: yeah...at the time Congress wanted to pounce on him for wasting the money from the Treasury. But he claimed he was above the law and the Republican led congress let him get away with it. Trying to find the articles. I remember reading about it years ago.

If this is what you are referring to, then this is truly media manipulation:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/25/AR2007102502488.html

That said, the media are really partially responsible for this, I believe, given that they have consistently "given away the house" since they started accepting tips and information from unattributed sources, and merely accepting information from this administration. The media have not been attending to their jobs of informing the public, anyway. Why shouldn't this administration feel that they can just feed them any damned thing they want?

I did find links to what your talking about
http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/13369.html
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/26/92544/223
http://www.blogowogo.com/blog_article.php?aid=1061033&t=

I am not sure of the reliability of those sources. I want to say I am just providing these not claiming I trust these sources. If it is true then its rather sad and pathetic but it really doesn't matter in the long run, if they do a good job in CA. If they fail in CA like they did in New Orleans then the integrity of their press conference also doesn't matter.

I am a very outspoken critic of President Bush, but I would need to see proof that one, this is true. And two, Bush approved it. We tend to blame everything that is done immorally by the government on President Bush, but really he doesn't have a say in every action by the tens of thousands of government employees.

EDIT: If these reports are true, as the linked articles state, then the head of FEMA should be immediately suspended without pay and an investigation done to see if he should be fired.

Again, I wouldn't slam on Bush unless there is a direct tie to the White House. While he's the chief boss, he cannot control every action of every government employee.
